Indoor Track
Registration for the 2026 season is now closed.
Details on our 2026 outdoor track season will be available around March 1, 2026.
Eligibility
Indoor track is open to all children ages 5-14 as of February 1, 2026, who either:
- live within St. Anne’s parish
- attend St. Anne’s school
- worship and attend faith formation classes at St. Anne’s Church, or
- live in a parish that does not offer CYO indoor track
Children who compete or train with a high school track team, however, are ineligible to compete in CYO.
Children train and compete on teams based not on their grade, but on their age as of February 1, 2026:
- Pee-Wees (ages 5-6)
- Novices (ages 7-8)
- Bantams (ages 9-10)
- Juniors (ages 11-12)
- Seniors (ages 13-14)
Boys and girls in each age group practice together, but at meets they compete in separate heats.
Uniforms and Apparel
When you register your child, you will indicate whether they need a uniform; if they do, then you will select their sizes and purchase their uniform during registration.
For our meets, each athlete must wear a St. Anne’s uniform running shirt and shorts. Uniforms from past track and cross-country seasons are acceptable.
Uniforms are not necessary for practices; gym clothes are fine. Every child should wear running shoes, however; basketball sneakers, cleats, and spiked running shoes are not allowed.
Coaches and Assistant Coaches
St. Anne’s CYO relies on parent volunteers to serve as coaches and assistant coaches on each team. No experience is necessary; our veteran coaches will train you on-the-job!
All adult volunteers in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, however, must be Virtus certified. To sign up for an upcoming Virtus course, click here.
If you’re interested in volunteering, e-mail Head Coach Chris DelliCarpini at [email protected].
Practices
Sunday practices will be on the indoor track at the Chaminade HS Activity-Athletic Center, on Jericho Turnpike between Saville Road and Marcellus Road. Parking is available on Jericho Turnpike and in the lot on Sayville Road. The track is upstairs, above the basketball court.
Our tentative practice dates are:
- January 25
- February 1
- February 8
- February 15
- March 1
- March 8
- March 15
Practice times each day are as follows:
- Pee-Wees: 12:00-12:45 PM
- Novices: 12:45-1:30 PM
- Bantams: 1:30-2:15 PM
- Juniors & Seniors: 2:15-3:00 PM
Meets
Our two CYO meets will be in the fieldhouse at St. Anthony’s HS, on their state-of-the-art 200m indoor track. St. Anthony’s is at 275 Wolf Hill Road in Huntington. The fieldhouse is at the far end of the parking lot.
We have two meets scheduled:
- Saturday, February 21 – click here for order of events
- Sunday, March 22 – click here for order of events
Times are TBD; last year the athletes had to be at the field house at 12:30 PM, the races started at 1:15 PM, and the meet ended by 4:00.
Events vary from meet to meet, but generally are sprints and relays (55m-400m) with some distance events (1000m), as well as long jump (standing broad jump for Pee-Wees).
Due to time constraints, children will compete in only one event per meet. Coaches will assign athletes to events each meet, but events do not run at set times; the meet runs as quickly as the officials can clerk each event.
Children may leave once they have competed, but for security and safety, do not leave without telling your child’s coach!
Each meet, St. Anne’s will have to provide volunteers to assist the league officials. These responsibilities can include walking relay runners to their zones, timing runners at the finish line, or clerking the jumps. The week before each meet, the head coach will solicit volunteers.
Below are links to the league information about the season. Every adult accompanying a child to any meet will be expected to have read the Parents’ Fact Sheet and to abide by its directives. Failure to do so could lead St. Anthony’s HS to not allow CYO to return next season.
